It might hard to believe with the ‘Beast of the East’ blanketing the UK with snow this week, but spring really is right around the corner. Whether you’ve been training all winter outside or hitting the gym instead, we have your guide for what to wear for spring training.

It might hard to believe with the ‘Beast of the East’ blanketing the UK with snow this week, but spring really is right around the corner. Whether you’ve been training all winter outside or hitting the gym instead, we have your guide for what to wear for spring training. The first rule of thumb: Layering is key. Changing spring temps can make it difficult to know what to wear on your outside runs or rides. Look for breathable, sweat-wicking clothing that you can layer comfortably. In this post, we share some popular, effective layering options to make the most of your spring training, from base layers to lightweight jackets to accessories and water bottles.

All About that Base, ‘Bout That Base

The key to comfortable spring training is your base layer. Base layers are close-fitting garments designed to wick sweat and moisture away from your body. These versatile items will keep you dry and warm, no matter the weather. Look for synthetic, sweat-wicking fabric like breathable polyester, in a range of items including tank tops, tees, long-sleeve tops and leggings.

Next Up: Lightweight Jerseys and Jackets

Our spring weather is typically damp and cool. Look for a breathable, lightweight jersey or jacket to wear on top of your base layer. At The Charity Clothing Company, we offer several types of lightweight jackets to fit your unique needs. Here’s a few:

For All Riders: The Club Jersey

The popular Club Jersey is perfect for cycle training and events. These jerseys are made from high-wicking polyester fabric. It draws moisture away from your skin to quickly evaporate and keep you cool and dry, from short sprints to grueling long-distance rides. Club jerseys feature three deep pockets on the reverse side to keep your necessities safe, as well as a CAM-lock zipper on the front and a full silicone waistband. The special gripper waistband stretches around the entire hem of the garment to grip onto your shorts or leggings and protect you from splashing water and debris or from riding up as you ride.

Best for Summer and Autumn Rides: The Sportive Jersey

The Sportive Jersey is our mid-range jersey, made from premium, high-performance “microfibra” fabric that is highly breathable and perfect for summer and autumn riding. With a slim-fit style, this jersey is equal parts flattering and functional. As with the Club Jersey, the Sportive has a cam-lock zipper, three deep pockets on the reverse – but with an extra zipped valuables pocket – and a full silicone waistband.

High-Viz Waterproof Cycling Jacket

This waterproof and windproof High-Viz jacket is ideal for laying over the top of your custom cycle jersey. We’re keen on its reflective detail to keep you safe and visible on dark nights or in inclement weather. The jacket is quick-dry, unisex and made for all of your running or cycling adventures, be they short or multi-day. The jacket has two zip-closing side pockets and a full-length zip with an inner storm flap and mesh back vent. But it’s also very lightweight! Consider stuffing it into one of the three deep pockets on your cycle jersey to put on if you end up riding past dusk.

Customising any of these high-quality, high-performance jerseys or jackets for your riding or running club or charity event is cost-effective and endlessly creative. We can use any colour and add your design to both the front and back. With the jersey, we offer you an option to print on the back pockets to continue your design all the way around. The High-Viz jacket can also be transfer printed with your club or charity logo. As an added touch, you can also customise a woven neck label to tag the inside of your garment.

Sweatbands Are Retro Cool

undefined

Sweatbands are great for keeping the sweat at bay during long runs or rides. They’re also totally retro and hip! At The Charity Clothing Company, we use embroidery and pantone colour matching to decorate wristbands and headbands with your training club or charity logo for a functional and fashionable training accessory. All wristbands come individually wrapped, so they make the perfect gift for new club members, volunteers or donors. Help them to stand out from the training and racing crowd!

Water Bottles

Lastly, make sure to stay hydrated with an ergonomic, customised water bottle. We offer flip or domed lids in two classic sizes: a 650 ml Base bottle (available in seven colours) and a 600 ml Pulse bottle (available in four translucent colours and solid white). On both, there’s a great wrap-around print area for your club or charity logo and message. Today, many people are responding to the damaging effect of plastic water bottles on our environment and our health. Help your training club and supporters “ban the bottle” by offering them customised, reusable and BPA-free water bottles.
